How you'll help us live our purpose

We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

It's a purpose that drives everything we do.  And you can play your part too – we are looking for an experienced engineer who loves building brilliant digital services from end to end to join our Digital team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer.

How you'll make a difference

You'll take technical ownership of customer-facing solutions, working across React/TypeScript and .NET/C# to design, build, test and run reliable, secure and scalable services.

You'll lead complex technical delivery, champion modern engineering practices and help shape high-quality solutions through clean architecture, automation, CI/CD, observability and secure-by-default development. Just as importantly, you'll coach and mentor other engineers, raise standards across the squad and define ways of working.

If you're passionate about quality, enjoy solving complex problems and want to make a real difference for customers in a regulated financial services environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Deep expertise across React/TypeScript and .NET/C# with demonstrable architectural leadership.
  • Significant experience in Software Development including accessibility.
  • Expert in relevant strategic skills and tooling; proficient across the stack (front-end, APIs, back-end, data, cloud).
  • Experience using source control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket).
  • Strong experience building quality solutions using formal testing approaches including TDD, automated unit/integration testing, contract testing, structured manual testing where appropriate, automated system/UI testing, and performance testing.
  • CI/CD craftsmanship (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions or similar) with quality gates and environment parity.
  • Proven record designing scalable, resilient systems; API design/versioning; clean architecture and DDD experience.
  • Track record mentoring engineers and leading code/design reviews; uplifting test automation and quality gates.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across Product, Architecture, InfoSec, Risk and Operations; governance experience.
  • Observability experience: metrics, logs, traces; operational ownership of services.
  • Experience of supporting UI/UX Design would be beneficial

And in return, you'll get the best from us:

  • Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office
  • Annual bonus of up to 12%
  • Matched pension contributions up to 10%
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme
  • Colleague Mortgage and Saver products
  • 2 days' volunteering per year

We'll give you a place to belong with the support to learn, develop and shape a meaningful career.
