How you'll help us live our purpose

We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

It's a purpose that drives everything we do. And you can play your part too – join our Enabling Platforms team as a Platform Engineer, supporting on-prem and cloud infrastructure, data centres, applications, hardware and the LHPS domain.

How you'll make a difference

You'll provide innovative technical expertise, deliver complex technical changes and operational support, and improve our hosted and cloud capabilities. You'll help operate secure, resilient solutions and increase the pace of change through automation. As we follow a hybrid model, you'll help ensure workloads can move between cloud and on-premises environments according to suitability and cost.

You'll build and improve processes that automate the build, test, deployment and maintenance of the technology stack; provide Level 2 incident support; investigate production issues and root causes; monitor solution performance; and identify opportunities to streamline releases and improve customer experience. You'll also manage cloud-based risks, create support knowledge, contribute to peer reviews and testing, and work with developers, colleagues and third-party suppliers to ensure solutions follow established processes.

What will you bring to the role?

You'll bridge on-prem infrastructure and cloud/DevOps, however, we welcome strong experience in either area, with training and development available to help close any knowledge gaps.

  • Significant experience delivering technical change and IT production support across cloud (Azure) or on-premises infrastructure environments
  • Good understanding of infrastructure technologies, DevOps principles, and Windows and Linux operating environments
  • Demonstrable expertise across several relevant technologies, such as Active Directory and Entra, Azure Functions or other serverless/PaaS services, VMware or Hyper-V, and DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP network services
  • Experience with configuration and infrastructure automation tools such as PowerShell, Terraform or Puppet, together with an understanding of zero-trust security principles
  • A collaborative, self-starting approach with strong analytical and pragmatic problem-solving skills; experience in a financial institution or another regulated environment is preferred

And in return, you'll get the best from us:

  • Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office
  • Annual bonus of up to 12%
  • Matched pension contributions up to 10%
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme
  • Colleague Mortgage and Saver products
  • 2 days' volunteering per year

We'll give you a place to belong with the support to learn, develop and shape a meaningful career.

Why choose us?

Our business is centred around our people. Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do, as shown by our Inclusive Employers Gold accreditation in 2023 and 2025. We're committed to equal opportunities regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability or gender identity.

You'll be joining a truly purpose-focused culture which helped us win the Leading with Purpose award at the 2023 Business Culture Awards. This recognises how we've embedded our purpose with our colleagues, and the actions we've taken to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

Why wait? Apply now

We'd love to hear from you. But don't wait around - we may close the advert early and we'd hate for you to miss out.
