How you'll help us live our purpose

We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

It's a purpose that drives everything we do.  And you can play your part too – join our CEO Office as an Executive Assistant.

How you'll make a difference

As an Executive Assistant reporting to the Chief of Staff, you'll provide proactive, confidential support to the CEO, Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors and Chair. You'll help our senior leaders focus on strategic priorities while keeping day-to-day activity running smoothly.

  • Manage complex diaries and inboxes, anticipate competing demands and protect time for preparation, key decisions and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate Executive, Board and committee meetings, preparing agendas, briefing packs, reports and presentations, distributing papers through Board Vantage, and recording minutes and following up actions.
  • Arrange travel, accommodation and internal and external events, producing accurate itineraries and briefings while managing expenditure within agreed budgets.
  • Act as a trusted contact for internal and external stakeholders, representing the Society and our Executives with professionalism, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Keep CEO Office records, expenses and administrative processes accurate and compliant with relevant policies, regulatory requirements and information security standards.
  • Work with the Chief of Staff and wider EA team on onboarding, appraisal administration and cover arrangements, while supporting projects and improving how the office works.

What will you bring to the role?

  • EA experience supporting C-suite leaders or equivalent; financial services experience is desirable.
  • Strong organisation skills to manage complex diaries, competing priorities and changing deadlines at pace.
  • Initiative and sound judgement to anticipate needs, take ownership, make decisions and flag issues appropriately.
  • Emotional intelligence, discretion and confidence building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Clear, diplomatic communication and attention to detail when preparing briefings, reports and presentations.
  • Experience in a large EA team, with a collaborative, hands-on approach and resilience through change.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Copilot, or equivalent, and managing budgets and expenditure.
  • Curiosity to understand the business, improve processes, share best practice and develop your skills.

And in return, you'll get the best from us:

  • Hybrid working – 2 days per week in the office
  • Annual bonus of up to 12%
  • Matched pension contributions up to 10%
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme
  • Colleague Mortgage and Saver products
  • 2 days' volunteering per year

We'll give you a place to belong with the support to learn, develop and shape a meaningful career.

You'll be joining a truly purpose-focused culture which helped us win the Leading with Purpose award at the 2023 Business Culture Awards. This recognises how we've embedded our purpose with our colleagues, and the actions we've taken to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.
