How you'll help us live our purpose

We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

It's a purpose that drives everything we do.  And you can play your part too – join our Property Services  team as a Construction Project Manager.

This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

How you'll make a difference

You'll lead the refurbishment of our Community Hub, from contractor appointment through to completion and handover. Reporting to our Property Portfolio Manager, you'll take the project from contractor appointment through to completion and handover, helping deliver its agreed community and social value outcomes.

  • Manage the project programme, budget, risks and changes, keeping delivery on track and stakeholders informed of progress and key decisions.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams, overseeing procurement, mobilisation, design reviews and technical approvals.
  • Oversee contractual, statutory, health and safety and governance requirements throughout delivery.
  • Manage grant-funding requirements, preparing progress reports, expenditure forecasts and claims, with accurate records to support audits and funding reviews.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, training and handover, ensuring project milestones and agreed community outcomes are delivered and evidenced.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Proven experience delivering construction, refurbishment, capital investment or property projects, from procurement and mobilisation through to completion and handover.
  • Strong project planning and budget management skills, with experience managing risks, issues, governance and reporting.
  • Experience coordinating consultants, managing contractors, cost, programme and change on construction/refurbishment projects.
  •  Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly working with Local Authorities and charity organisations.
  • A proactive, practical approach to solving problems, with the confidence to challenge, influence and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and maintain progress.
  • A good understanding of construction health and safety requirements and project governance.
  • Clear communication, report-writing and presentation skills, supported by proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience of grant-funded projects or working in a regulated or governance-led environment would be an advantage. A relevant qualification in project management, construction or property, or membership of a professional body such as APM, CIOB or RICS, would be desirable.

And in return, you'll get the best from us:

  • Hybrid working
  • Annual bonus of up to 12%
  • Matched pension contributions up to 10%
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme
  • 2 days' volunteering per year

We'll give you a place to belong with the support to learn, develop and shape a meaningful career.
