In 2016, we were recognised by the National Centre for Diversity by becoming the first financial services organisation to be awarded Stage 1 in Investors in Diversity and are now working towards our Leaders in Diversity accreditation.

Our approach to flexible working provides colleagues with a healthy balance towards professional and personal ambitions. We understand that no “one size fits all” and are committed to providing inclusive working and family friendly arrangements, that suit colleagues throughout different stages of their career. We believe this makes a positive difference to colleague Wellbeing and, in turn, can help us to meet our member’s needs.
Flexible working can be a permanent arrangement, temporary adjustment or a flexible agreement. This can include part time hours, job share, home working, mobile working, compressed hours, career breaks and sabbaticals.
Women in Leadership
We believe a gender balanced workforce is good for business, good for our customers and good for our workplace culture. Having signed up to HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, we are committed to increasing the representation of women in our senior leadership team.
To break down these barriers and create new possibilities for balanced representation, we have appointed a representative from our senior executive team, who has taken responsibility for gender diversity and inclusion. We are setting ourselves internal goals for gender diversity, publishing our progress and also ensuring the pay of the senior executive team is linked to the delivery against these objectives.
We are committed to providing opportunities for younger people, so they can gain access to the world of work and make informed decisions about their future careers.
Each year, we offer work experience opportunities, internships and apprenticeship schemes. We have developed partnerships with local community organisations to help promote the schemes and work collaboratively with local and national educational institutions to deliver recognised professional and educational qualifications.
This future talent is critical to our workforce and our dedicated HR team provide full support and guidance to candidates including CV writing, interview tips and interview feedback.
Something for Everyone
We have a number of colleague events throughout the year including our annual Summer BBQ, Wellbeing week, Mental Health Awareness week, Volunteering activities and Responsible Business week. Our colleague mobile app encourages networking and allows colleagues to share these experiences, create their own profile, set up community groups, post news & images, award kudos.
