  • Interview

Our interviews provide you with the best opportunity to excel. We want to find out about your technical skills and competency strengths and depending on the role you have applied for, we may ask you to complete other tasks. This could include an online assessment or exercise on the day, as an example. We will always provide you with a full brief and plenty of time to prepare, and we will be on hand to guide you through the process.

    What is the selection process?

The format of our selection process depends on the role. We use methods which simulate the true nature of the work and best assess a blend of skills, capabilities and behaviours.

It’s a two-way process, so it’s just as important for you to decide whether we feel right for you.

The process will always include an interview which could be over the phone, by video or face to face. Depending on the role we may ask you to complete other role-related tasks to give you the best opportunity to succeed. This could include an online assessment, role play, whiteboard exercise or presentation and we’ll let you know in advance so you have plenty of time to prepare.

What interview preparation should I do?

    • Review the job description and advert to familiarise yourself with the role
    • Find out more about us - take a look at our corporate website, LinkedIn and other social channels
    • Come prepared with questions that you have about the role, our culture or the Society
    • If your interview is face to face plan your journey and arrive at your interview location with time to spare
    • Test your technology in advance for remote interviews -we typically use Teams and Zoom.
    • Be sure to let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments for the interview to ensure you can perform at your best

    Prepare role related examples

Our interview questions are based around our behaviours which can be found on the ‘Our Behaviours’ section.

To answer these questions effectively, try practising the STAR technique. This approach can help to structure clear and concise answers:

    • Start by describing the Situation
    • Describe your Tasks and responsibilities
    • Explain what Actions you took
    • And finally, what were the Results?

    What happens next?

If you’re successful, congratulations are in order! The next steps involve a number of pre-employment checks that we’ll complete before your start date, including financial crime and credit checks.  We’ll will keep you updated every step of the way.

If you’re not successful at interview we’ll provide an option for feedback to help you for the future.
